Trail Use Policy

We are happy to share our beautiful forest with you.  It is very important to us and to our forest that all users of the trails follow the following protocol to ensure its preservation for the future. We welcome friendly pets when you stay with us, however we do require that you adhere to our Pet Policy.

  • Please contact the Clinic within business hours to advise of your intended arrival date & time to ensure that it mutually aligns.
  • Once approved to use the trail, please sign in upon your arrival with Clinic Reception within Clinic hours to let us know you are on the trail.  Take a whistle with you.  Cell phone service cuts in and out.   If you need to communicate, go to higher ground.
  • Please finish your trail walk during daylight hours and sign out at the end of your trek.
  • Please stay on the trails. There are many sensitive areas that need to be protected.
  • Please don’t cut down or take any branches, rocks, plants or critters.
  • If you take food or beverages with you, please bring back all trash. We get itchy if we see litter in our forest or around the trails.
  • Since we are in a heavy tick zone, we suggest you wear light long sleeved tops and long pants, preferably tucked in when on our trails. If you find a tick and you are concerned, please check with the Clinic staff and we will obtain someone who can supervise its removal, or if you wish, direct you to the nearest emergency room.
  • Mosquitoes can also be quite heavy in our forest. Please come prepared with proper protection, if you wish.
  • Dogs are allowed on the trails under controlled circumstances as dogs may not understand the ‘rules’ all that well. If you are in a group that has been allowed on the trails with your dogs please observe the following practices:
  • a) Register your dog when you sign in to walk the trails. Tell us his/her name.
  • b) Pick up after your dog. Dispose of these bags when you exit the trail.
  • c) Keep your dogs on a leash. They can be very destructive running through the woods.
  • d) We will be monitoring the effects of dogs on our trails. If we find that the above practices are not being followed, we will close the trails to all dogs.  By following these practices, you will ensure that others can use the trails with their dogs in the future.
